1. News from iQ.Suite: Anti-Spam SPACE and SAVAPI3 Scan Engine from Avira
GROUP Technologies added a new security component to its portfolio last year: Avira SPACE (Spam and Phishing Advanced Cross platform Engine) for iQ.Suite Wall. This new option for our anti-spam solution offers enhanced protection against spam and phishing mails. Avira SPACE is based on various technologies that are harmonised to ensure reliable spam detection and a low false positive rate. The upcoming release of iQ.Suite will make the automatic update with our new protection measures available for the first time.
Support for the new powerful SAVAPI3 Scan Engine from Avira for iQ.Suite 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 and SMTP and also for iQ.Suite 12.2 for Lotus Notes Domino will also be available soon.
The new versions will be available for download from the beginning of August.
2. The 5 rules of legally compliant email archiving
There is no disputing the fact that corporate and business communication today cannot manage without email. But what is important when it comes to archiving all this electronic correspondence? How can companies keep control? What do they do about overflowing mail directories? How do they comply with legal and company requirements? How should they store their emails? How long should they keep them?
These are just some of the many questions in the area of email archiving. GROUP Technologies offers a comprehensive solution for more efficiency and legal compliance in email archiving: iQ.Suite.
These are the 5 most important rules of email archiving:
1. Make sure your archiving is tamper-proof and legally compliant!
Laws and regulations specify the required retention periods as well as the method by which mails must be archived. There is one solution that guarantees protection from manipulation and is the key to fulfilling all these requirements. iQ.Suite Bridge precludes any such tampering right from the start by archiving inbound/outbound emails before they are delivered to the end-user. It also caters for a link to third-party archiving systems, from IBM for example.
2. Benefit from the content value of email communications!
People often overlook the fact that emails could take on legal relevance in disputes. Email has asserted itself as a communication medium and is often the only way for people to provide evidence of agreements, business transactions, delayed deadlines, etc. Emails must therefore be archived in such a way that they can be accessed promptly at any time and their integrity is guaranteed. GROUP offers iQ.Suite Bridge and iQ.Suite Store, two powerful solutions that mesh closely to enable a seamless archiving process and allow access to your emails via integrated search engines.
3. Avoid local email archiving!
Often workflows arent smooth such as overflowing mailboxes. The result is loss of productivity or, even more seriously: important emails or a local archive may be deleted. In both cases the company no longer has access to the emails and valuable knowledge may be lost. To counteract this problem, iQ.Suite Store uses a central set of rules that relieves the load on mailboxes.
4. Reduce the volume of unwanted content that is archived!
Not every email contains information that is relevant to business. Put additional load on all too often spam mails, newsletters and private content put added load on the infrastructure. Therefore, it is desirable to separate content that needs archiving from the unwanted data. With the integration of iQ.Suite Watchdog and iQ.Suite Wall undesired content is removed. Intelligent classification technologies make it possible to separate content, and filter out viruses and undesirable content.
5. Minimize your backup windows!
Growing volumes of data put a burden on the infrastructure, make it more difficult to find emails and increases data backup. iQ.Suite Store improves the response times in the email system and minimizes the time required for data backup. Using progressive single instancing guarantees that identical file attachments are stored only once.

3. GROUP Technologies new training section goes live
For some months GROUP Technologies has offered a new Internet presence, providing not only a modern design but also improved access to all aspects of email security, email archiving and email productivity.
The online training section, which you will find as usual under "Training and Workshops", has also been given a clearer layout and design. As of today you can benefit from easy access to our training offering, can search by specific topics or sort training sessions by various criteria. And you will, of course, be able to register electronically in future - for workshops, training and webinars.
Why wait? Visit our new training section now to see our comprehensive offer.
4. GROUP training scheduled for July and August
Knowledge is not static but must be updated on an ongoing basis if its owners are to stay competitive. We therefore offer regular interesting, practice-based seminars and webinars on the subject of email management - for Lotus Notes Domino as well as for Microsoft Exchange/SMTP.
Now in July you can take part in our iQ.Suite ClientAdmin free webinar and get your Lotus Domino/Notes environment under central control.
A Microsoft Exchange basics free webinar to be held in August will teach you everything you need to know about email management with iQ.Suite. In addition, iQ.Suite Store experts can attend a troubleshooting course to find out how and where they will find answers to any questions that arise in the section of email archiving.

5. Exchange/SMTP Corner: Manage standard key and certificates with iQ.Suite Crypt
iQ.Suite Crypt is the central authority on email encryption, and can handle standard key and certificate-based procedures. For newly imported PGP keys you must first decide which validations are to be performed. There are two ways of actively using the new keys for encryption: either you set the owner trust to "ultimately trusted" (absolute trust) or you use the key without any further validation, which means that you can use any newly imported key immediately. In this case, the relevant crypt engine has to be modified.

6. ...and the winner is - GROUP competition results
In our last newsletter we invited you to take part in our competition on email encryption and were thrilled by the huge response. This shows that confidentiality is gaining importance when sending business data.
Some facts from the survey:
- Over 60% of participants plan to roll out an email encryption solution or already have such a solution in use.
- For around 90% of all interviewees protecting communications is the vital factor, followed by privacy reasons, which were quoted by around 70% of the people surveyed.
- For more than 80%, low administration effort and a minimum of user involvement are the key factors for choosing an encryption solution. For over 70% of respondents, the requirement that recipients should be able to manage without any additional hardware/software is another key decision criterion.
This result confirms the strategy we have chosen and that we continue to follow with our email encryption solutions iQ.Suite Crypt and iQ.Suite WebCrypt.
We would like to thank everyone who took part and congratulate the lucky winners
1st place: The winner of an iPod is:
