1. GROUP Technologies at UKLUG 2008 in London
Following GROUP Technologies` successful participation at this year’s ILUG in Dublin/Ireland, the company is set to make its debut at UKLUG 2008 on 18 and 19 September in London. This continues the GROUP Technologies tradition of maintaining close contact with users as well as the Lotus Domino/Notes market.
The Lotus User Groups provide the perfect basis for exchanging information on current developments on the Lotus market and making contact with the various user categories. The GROUP Technologies booth will thus be staffed by e-mail experts able to answer all your questions regarding e-mail security and e-mail archiving. Topics such as e-mail encryption with every communications partner and the tamper-proof archiving of e-mails will be among the major highlights on offer.
GROUP Technologies has a long history of exchanging ideas with users and interested professionals alike, and the User Groups comprise a fixed element in the overall strategy.

2. USA votes for E-mail Archiving Bill
E-mail archiving is fast becoming a hot topic right around the world. The case of countless e-mails vanishing in the White House is not unique. The US audit office has also criticised the state of e-mail archiving in federal agencies. It seems that agencies were not saving relevant e-mails electronically, resorting instead to the print and file system. Spot checks also revealed that management was not archiving e-mails in the proper manner, which means that their preservation was not guaranteed.
Concrete measures have now been taken as a result of these lapses. In July, a bill relating to e-mail archiving was passed. In the future, this will lay down strict rules for preserving electronic messages. The crucial aspect of this is that uniform standards will be established for the electronic preservation of e-mails.
This development shows just how important e-mail communication has become. Not only is it an efficient means of communication for public officials, businesses and private persons, but also a medium for valuable information. E-mail archiving encompasses two important functions: the long-term preservation and future retrieval of this information. Our experts can tell you what requirements you need to consider and how you can implement an archiving system that suits your needs.
3. iQ.Suite Tips & Tricks for Lotus Domino: Filtering Non-Delivery Reports
All too frequently, employees are receiving "non-delivery reports" from servers even though no e-mail was sent to the server in the first place. In most cases, the addressee is completely unknown. These reports are not only confusing, but they also flood users' mailboxes with unwanted messages.
Our training sessions and workshops can tell you:
- why these NDRs are sent and where they originate from
- what their format is
- why they are not easily filtered by anti-spam jobs
- how you can deal effectively with these messages
- how you can configure your own system so that you yourself do not become a mass sender of such reports
Why not pay us a visit? We look forward to seeing you!

4. The Exchange/SMTP corner: Solving the problem of non-delivery mails as spam
A high recognition rate is not the only characteristic of an effective anti-spam solution like iQ.Suite Wall. Just as crucial is a low incidence of false positives. iQ.Suite 7.1 comes with an added function that goes a step further than the previous user whitelisting - auto-whitelisting.
Here you will learn more about how to make auto-whitelisting work for you and the advantages it offers.
iQ.Suite 7.1 comes with other new features, such as the integration of images in iQ.Suite Trailer, user blacklisting in iQ.Suite Wall and full Exchange 2007 support.
5. Great Response to E-mail Archiving Prize Draw
In our last newsletter, we invited you to take part in our prize draw. It was tied in with a short e-mail archiving survey, and we were amazed at the response we received. It proved that the subject of preserving electronic messages is coming into ever sharper focus. Here are just some of the findings from our survey:
- 85% of participants plan to introduce an e-mail archiving solution or are already using one
- Over 70% of participants expect the data in their mail server environment to grow by 10 to 30%
- More than 60% of respondents mentioned legal regulations as their most important reason for introducing an archive solution, followed by around 30% who said that freeing up their server/mailbox environment was most important
These findings confirm the strategy which we are pursuing with our two e-mail archiving solutions:
- iQ.Suite Store for reducing the strain on servers and mailboxes
- iQ.Suite Bridge for tamper-proof and legally compliant e-mail preservation
Congratulations to the lucky winners, who each receive a GROUP rucksack packed with great prizes:
- Herr Claus Conen of the Volksbank Dudweiler
- Herr Thomas Bäuml of the Lebensversicherung von 1871 a.G.
- Herr Ulrich Burghardt of the Sparkasse Paderborn
